As we enter our most busy season of the year as taxidermists, I hope everyone is doing well.  The board of directors, officers and myself have been staying busy working on behind the scenes endeavors to ensure another successful year of activities and events for our members. With the recent completion of our Cabelas Taxidermy Weekend, I am pleased to report that we have continued our relationship with Camp Compass.  We were able to present several mounts to preserve the memories that the participants had made during their hunting and experience with Camp Compass.  It was nice to see that we had gained four new members during this weekend.  The quality of work at this show has continued to grow over the years and I feel this has a direct correlation to the wonderful educational seminars that have been presented in the past and that continued during this past show.  It was also nice to see everyone interacting, learning and making new connections with each other.

We have the majority of the details worked out for the state convention at Seven Springs Mountain Resort that will take place March 6- 9 th 2019.  I can say with out a doubt this show will have one of the most diverse and complete line up of seminars.  We are working on future activities to promote camaraderie and interaction with taxidermists and inclusion of family members, such as a possible corn hole tournament.  Our goal is to provide a family/friends atmosphere with something for everyone to enjoy.  We will also be returning to the Great American Outdoor Show for 2019.  The details of this show are being completed as I write this and will be available and communicated to the membership in the very near future.

As a suggestion from one of our members we have determined a way to honor individuals that have selflessly given so much over the years to promote continued learning and that provide a helping hand to their fellow taxidermists.  We have decided to add something called a Mentor Spotlight to our Review publications.  We will continue to do the Member Spotlight to allow everyone to get to know each other better but will also acknowledge those that have impacted others over the years.

We are evolving our Face Book page to increase the amount of content and would like to see it become a place that is more interactive.  I would like to see this become a place that has more member participation and posting.  This could become a great tool to share techniques and promote further education.  We have discussed providing live educational feeds and as well as reference photos and educational postings.  We are also continuing to evolve our website and use it as a tool to get information out to the membership.  One of the things I am most excited about is the development of mass emailing capabilities that the PTA is now able to perform.  This will allow a significant increase in the ability to interact with our members as well as promote our organization to non members to promote future growth within the organization.

We are also looking for donation items that can be used for our silent auction.  This can range from large to small, themed baskets, taxidermy and non taxidermy related items.  As always we would like to hear your input and rely on our membership participation to allow constant evolution and growth of our organization.

   Sincerely,
